As part of General Medical Services we provide the following:
We offer annual review including lung function assessment suffering for patients suffering from asthma and COPD. Clinics usually take place on Monday afternoons and are run by Sister Falconer. Asthma reviews can also be carried out by Sister Jones.
We offer annual review to all our diabetic patients. Diabetic clinic is run by Sister Ralphs on a Wednesday afternoon. Sister Ralphs is trained in insulin initiation and we are proud to offer this service in Station Road Surgery. Not only does this take the strain from secondary care but our patients find the service more convenient and personal. We have close links with the diabetic team in Llandough and are supported with regular visits from a Specialist nurse.
The practice encourages women to between the ages of 20-64 to attend for regular cervical smears. Cervical Smears are done by the practice nurses and appointments can be booked in advance. Late afternoon appointments are available.
We offer contraceptive counselling and offer a wide range of contraceptive options including contraceptive pills, Depo-Provera administration and vasectomy referral. Dr Froom is able to fit intrauterine contraceptive devices (coils) and contraceptive implants. We ask patients to make a routine appointment with her to discuss this contraceptive option.
Peri-natal care is co-ordinated by our practice midwife Nadine. She runs clinics at the practice every Tuesday morning.
This service is no longer routinely offered by the surgery. Should you have any medical problems please make a routine appointment with a doctor. If you require contraceptive provision please see the nurse.
Baby Clinics are held every Tuesday afternoon. The practice offers a multi-disciplinary approach and Dr Froom, Health Visitors and Practice nurses work closely to offer child health surveillance checks, immunisation and support.
We now offer a Near Patient Testing Service to our patients taking Warfarin. Clinics are run by Sister Ralphs on Tuesday mornings. Blood testing will be carried by pin-prick and dosing will be on the spot. We our very excited about this development as it will be much more convenient for patients.
Dr Griffin is very experienced in minor surgery and specially arranged clinics are held to remove skin lesions. Both Dr Griffin and Dr Walberg are trained and experienced in joint injections. These appointments can only be made after consulting a doctor.
